The Village of Godfrey is located just north of St.Louis, across the state line in Madison County Ill. The southwestern boundary of the village is a wall of limestone bluffs along the Mississippi River. Of historic importance, the nearby mouth of the Missouri River was the launching off point for the expeditions of Lewis and Clark.
