When planning your next park upgrade, outdoor fitness park, fitness trail or any outdoor recreation project, cost is always the key factor. We have compiled a list of grants and funding opportunities that may be available for your next project. You may find there are one or multiple funding opportunities that can help turn your recreation project from a dream to a reality.

US Funding

A great resource for any parks and recreation or community development grants that may be available to you is the Council of Foundations. This is a comprehensive resource center on the over 800 community foundations in the US. Go to the community foundation map to see if there is a foundation set up in your city or county.

If your community does not have a foundation or even if it does there are still lots of funding opportunities for your next park development project.

In 2016, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) and the City of Minneapolis approved ordinances to reverse years of underfunding in neighborhood parks.

Community Development Block Grant Program

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is a flexible program that provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs.

The Challenge Cost Share Program is intended to support specific National Park Service mission related projects that align with goals of local project partners.

Quality of Life Grants

Pioneered by the late Dana Reeve, the Quality of Life Grants Program recognizes projects and initiatives that foster community engagement, inclusion and involvement, while promoting health and wellness for individuals living with paralysis and their families.The Q

Co-op Community Spaces has been developed to help protect, beautify and improve spaces across Western Canada.

This program provides affordable funding to develop essential community facilities in rural areas.

The purpose of the Credit Enhancement program is to award grants to eligible entities that demonstrate innovative methods of helping charter schools address the cost of acquiring, constructing, and renovating facilities by enhancing the availability of loans and bond financing.
