All About the Apollo

Public parks are changing like never before. Once thought of as a green space with benches for parents to watch children run around on the playground, they’re quickly becoming community hotspots for people of all ages to move, exercise, and connect. The number one advance in this movement is outdoor fitness equipment. Throughout this blog, we’ll highlight our most feature-packed, versatile, and inclusive piece of outdoor fitness equipment, the Apollo Multigym, which fits seamlessly into any public park.

The Apollo offers full-body indoor commercial gym quality workouts for up to 5 simultaneous users in a compact unit built for the outdoors, like you’ve never seen before. The 20’ x 20’ area required for an ASTM-compliant layout can handle the reality of public spaces and allows even the smallest of pocket parks to feature an Apollo. Snow, rain, heat, heavy use, and every other drawback are no issue for this unit, as our 15-year warranty on all structural components covers it all. Let’s examine more ways the Apollo can benefit your parks.

Everlasting Build

The Apollo isn’t your average piece of outdoor fitness equipment that wears out after a few years and requires constant replacement parts. Outdoor fitness equipment in unsupervised public parks must be specifically engineered to meet certain challenges, and the Apollo checks all the boxes. The frame is made from heavy-duty steel, abrasive blasted, zinc-primed, and finished with a weatherproof polyester powder coating that has been salt-spray tested for durability. Every single fastener is fully tamperproof, featuring rounded-head stainless steel carriage bolts that lie flush with the surface of the equipment. The only way to access the nuts is through a padlocked access hatch that hides away anything that could be loosened. The end result is a rust-proof, vandal-proof, and long-lasting multigym, perfect for public park installations.

Fitness for Everyone

Public parks are for everyone, so outdoor fitness equipment in these parks should be for everyone too. The Apollo is designed with the user in mind, featuring assisted weight training, bodyweight training, and adjustable weight resistance training, allowing everyone to exercise, regardless of age, size, or fitness level.

A noteworthy feature of the Apollo is the chin-up and dip station, which comes with an adjustable assist lever. Research shows that 90% of the general population cannot perform a bodyweight chin-up. Our revolutionary assist lever allows users to offset either 60 lbs, 80 lbs, 100 lbs, or 120 lbs of their own weight, enabling them to perform the exercise properly. This feature makes the station more approachable for beginners, while still allowing stronger users to avoid the assist lever and perform bodyweight exercises.

The most popular station that truly embodies the versatility of the Apollo is the hi-lo cable pulley system that comes with a 100lbs weight stack adjustable in 10lb increments from 10lbs all the way to 100lbs. This station enables users to perform exercises such as biceps curls, triceps press-downs, cable squats, lat pulldowns, single-arm chest presses, and many more. Our cable hi-lo pulley station features the same biomechanics as those found in an indoor commercial gym, but with added safety measures. The pulley system and cables are enclosed for protection, and the weight stack is designed with a locking lever to eliminate pinch points and crush zones. When installed on accessible surfacing, the hi-lo pulley system is ADA-friendly and ensures that fitness at the park is welcoming for everyone.

In addition to these two stations, the lower back extension features four adjustable height settings to accommodate various body sizes. Meanwhile, the calf raise, abdominal vertical knee raise, and plyo box offer options for exercises targeting the lower body, core, and upper body.

Guided Fitness Training

Every station on the Apollo comes with UV-resistant instructional placards that display detailed full-color visual examples of how to perform the exercise correctly. Additionally, QR codes provide access to how-to videos and fitness programming on our website so that first-time users and seasoned professionals alike can get the most from their workout.
